There are few things more fun than watching grass grow; paint drying, government passing a balanced budget, OS loads, imaging hard drives are just a few. Scanning a large quantity of 35mm slides is no exception and a task I've been putting off now since our last reunion. Well I finally decided that as much as I'd like them to, they weren't going to scan themselves so last weekend I bit the bullet, locked myself away in my office and in 3 marathon sessions blew through the whole set.
Over the coming weeks (as time permits), the slides will be made available here online as well as a select set over on Facebook. The slide show was made up of 6 140-slide carousels for a total of approximately 605 slides. Originally produced to be presented on dual cross-fading projectors with silent transition cues coming from a specially produced soundtrack cassette, the goal is to 1st digitize the slides and make them available online. Once the set is digitized, the original slide show may be recreated and turned into a video. Unfortunately the original cassette is lost in the dustbin of time so the sequence timing to the songs is lost with it. We do however have a printed copy of the tracks used in the show and the running order.

The slideshow was contributed to by many photographers, mostly from our photography class. Some "time capsule" images of current events, celebrities, album covers, movie posters etc. were added to the show for context. Because of copyright issues, these images as well as the songs from the soundtrack will not be reproduced online.Original concept, direction and production by
Tom Morris and
Boyd Neeland. To Tom and Boyd - many thanks for their efforts and for making sure the set was preserved.
Enjoy!
